Seiichi Yoshida, MISAO Project; and Ken-ichi Kadota, Ageo, Saitama, Japan, discovered a new variable star MisV1286.
It was picked up by Seiichi Yoshida from the candidates of new variable stars detected by the PIXY system 2 from images taken by Ken-ichi Kadota, and confirmed by Ken-ichi Kadota.
This star is 0.9 arcmin from the catalogued position of NSV 11227, R.A. 18h42m50s.5, Decl. -27o08'01", 15.0-16.0 mag(p). There is no star at the catalogued position of NSV 11227, so the position must be inaccurate. But the identification is uncertain.
If NSV 11227 is a red variable, it can be identified with an IRAS or MSX5C object near by the catalogued position. But in fact, there is no IRAS or MSX5C object around the position. In the 2MASS images, there are three bright stars exist about 1 arcmin from NSV 11227 forming a triangle, one of them is MisV1286. The catalogued position of NSV 11227 is at the center of the triangle. So one of them may be identified with NSV 11227.
It may be identified with NSV 11227 whose position is uncertain.
If NSV 11227 is a red variable, an IRAS or MSX5C object near by the catalogued position is likely a candidate of identification. But there is none around the position. In the 2MASS images, there are three bright stars exist about 1 arcmin from NSV 11227 forming a triangle. The catalogued position of NSV 11227 is at the center of the triangle, so one of them may be identified with NSV 11227. MisV1286 is one of the three stars.
